Today there was only one game played in the NBA involving an Australian. The Utah Jazz took on the Denver Nuggets.

Today the Utah Jazz just were not in the game from the start. They lost the first quarter 14-24 and never recovered, losing 105-91.

There were two Australians playing today, both for the Utah Jazz. Dante Exum is filling in at the starting point guard position for the injured George Hill and Joe Ingles is getting whatever minutes he can during the Jazz’s injury crisis.

Dante Exum

Exum had a good game, playing the most minutes of any Jazz player with 35 for the game. In that time he scored ten points on 5-of-12 shooting. Unfortunately the Australian Guard could not but a bucket from three, going 0-of-5 from distance.

Exum did have six rebounds, four of them offensive which is an impressive number for any guard. Exum also had two assists and only one turnover, showing that he took care of the ball. His assist numbers would have been higher if his teammates made some of their shots.

Joe Ingles

With George Hill and Derrick Favors injured, many players have to fill in the void. Ingles is a combination guard/forward who will never set the NBA on fire with his play but will always play with a clear head.

Ingles is the type of player who will sacrifice his game for the good of the team and this does not always show on the stats sheet.

Tonight his played just under 21 minutes, going 1-of-4 from the field, all of them from range, scoring five points. He hit his only two free throws as well. Ingles had two rebounds, four assists and a steal in a typical Joe game.
