There were two games in the NBA today involving Australians in the NBA
Matthew Dellavedova and the Milwaukee Bucks traveled to Orlando to take on the Magic, beating them 104-96
Andrew Bogut and the Dallas Mavericks hosted the resurgent New Orleans Pelicans, beating them 91-81
Dellavedova played 31 minutes against the Magic, scoring eight points on 3-of-13 shooting, including 2-of-7 from distance. Fortunately for Dellavedova his passing game was on the money as he handed out eight assists with only one turnover.
Dellavedova also collected one rebound and one steal. Dellavedova had a plus/minus (points differential when a player is on the court) of plus four on the night. Dellavedova is proving to be the floor general that Milwaukee were hoping that he would be, taking some pressure off teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo (hard to say, easy to watch). Now all that Dellavedova needs to do is improve his shooting slightly …
Bogut had a real Bogut NBA game. In just under 29 minutes, Bogut scored five points on 1-of-3 shooting. He did show the improtance of big men being able to shoot free throws by going 3-of-4 from the line.
Bogut’s strength is in his rebounding however. He collected a game high 14 rebounds on the night, including the five offensive rebounds which were just under half of Dallas’s total offensive rebounds (11). Bogut also had three assists and a blocked shot.
Simmons is still recovering from surgery to his foot to repair a Jones fracture. There is still no timetable for his return.
