There were three games today in the NBA involving Australians.
Andrew Bogut and the Dallas Mavericks hosted the Charlotte Hornets, losing 109-101 with Bogut injuring his knee during the game.
Dante Exum, Joe Ingles and the Utah Jazz travelled to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers, beating them 107-101.
Matthew Dellavedova and the Milwaukee Bucks host Patty Mills and the San Antonio Spurs, with the Spurs coming out victors 97-96.
Bogut played just under 11 minutes today, his game was cut short by an unfortunate hyper extension to his right knee caused by another player crashing into it. The injury is thought not to be too serious but with the Mavericks having little to play for this season, there is a good chance that the Mavericks will be cautious.
In the time that Bogut did play, he did not score, going 0-of-1 from the field. In true Bogut fashion he did collect six rebounds.
Exum showed great promise today in just under 18 minutes. Why did he only play this shot time when he scored 10 points on 4-of-5 from the field. Because he collected five fouls in this time. This is always a possibility for a defensive player like Exum who plays hard on both ends. Exum also made both of his shots from deep on one of his best shooting performances of the year.
Exum also gave one assist in his time on the court.
In just a tick under 12 minutes, Ingles did a bit of everything. He scored seven points on 2-of-3 shooting, including connecting on his only attempt from deep. He also went to the line, connecting on 2-of-3 from there.
In a typical Ingles game he also collected two rebounds, one assist and one steal. It is this play which keeps getting him minutes.
In a rare outing for Mills he was totally off his shot. In 21 minutes scored one point. He did not connect on a field goal, going 0-of-8 and 0-of-5 from deep. He connected on 1-of-2 free throws in a disappointing effort.
As is usual for Mills when his shot is off, he contributes in other areas. He collected one rebound and gave out five assists.
Dellavedova played almost 32 minutes and had one of the worst games of his career. He scored eight points on 3-of-8 shooting and only gave out two assists. For a man bought in to make sure that the offense is flowing thanks to his passing and three point shooting, this can be seen as a fail. Particularly when team star Giannis Antetokounmpo was off the court for longer than usual thanks to the five fouls he collected.
