There were three games in the NBA involving Australians today.
Matthew Dellavedova, Thon Maker and the Milwaukee Bucks traveled to Chicago to take on the Bulls a day after both teams played in Milwaukee. Fortunately for the Bucks the result was another win, 95-69.
Aron Baynes and the Detroit Pistons traveled to Washington to take on the Wizards. The Detroit big men were in foul trouble in the first quarter meaning that Washington could attack the hoop, helping the Wizards win 122-108.
Dante Exum, Joe Ingles and the Utah Jazz hosted the Dallas Mavericks.
Dellavedova played 21 minutes, going scoreless on 0-of-3 shooting. He did have two rebounds, three assists and two steals with only one turnover for the entire game.
This was a game dominated by the Milwaukee front court where Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, John Henson, Mirza Teletovic and Greg Monroe combined for 71 of Milwaukee’s total 95 points.
Dellavedova and rookie Malcolm Brogden were able to combine to keep Rajon Rondo, one of the greatest passers of the modern era to seven points, four rebounds and just four assists in a great defensive showing
Once again Maker played his short junk time game with only three minutes at the end of regulation. Maker only had one point on 1-of-2 shooting from the line.Maker was also able to collect two rebounds in this time.
Baynes only played 16 minutes tonight, racking up three fouls in less than three minutes of the first quarter. This limited Baynes effectiveness on the night, meaning that he was only able to score two points on 1-of-2 shooting and collected two rebounds.
Exum started in place of the injured George Hill again, having nine points by half time on 3-of-4 shooting in a welcome return to form. Unfortunately for Exum, he was only able to play 19 minutes due to picking up four fouls.
Exum finished with 11 points on the game as well as collecting one rebound and one assist.
Ingles played 21 minutes, scoring five points on 2-of 3 shooting. Unfortunately Ingles also collected four fouls, meaning he could not be as active defensively as he usually is. He was able to collect two rebounds and one assist.
There are some ESPN analysts who believe that Simmons will not return until February. This will only give Simmons two months of play before the seasons end. I do not believe that Philadelphia have a chance of making the Playoffs. This is unofficial of course, Philadelphia are yet to release a timetable for his return. He has returned to practice without his moon boot.
Bogut was expected to miss two weeks when he hyper-extended his knee during a game against Charlotte. That two week is up in two days so Bogut should not be far off returning.
